You can pick the day or you can pick the weather, but you don’t get to choose both.

Love this perspective. Self-imposed deadlines are truly the trickyest bug to debug.

Safe passage, Colin. What's your time en route and when will you make landfall? What's the boat name?

So much more to “passage planning” than 20 years ago not to mention that being 20 years older has added a large degree of patience to process

Bottom line: Weather determines whether or not we leave… 🙄😉

I happened to check Predict Wind yesterday, LOTS of red ( and very dark red)between you and New Zealand. Love the updates. Excellent sailing weather here on the west end of Kauai today. 😎

Oh man. Lucky you. You know what would be good? Some tuna poke from that food truck.

Head out to add to the 'crew waiting' on another vessel shortly. Exciting if Wednesday looks like the next window. Thanks for insight Jim.

Keep me posted on what you guys see. The weather on the NZ end of the trip has mostly been the issue. We are trying hard to avoid making landfall in rough conditions. If had to, I'd trade a little rough weather up here in Fiji for a smooth finish. The challenge is that the weather model reliability falls off after about 6 days and that's how long it will take us to get across. Safe journey to you guys!

This is a great place for a boat geek like me. You see all kinds here. It proves the old axiom, It's the sailor not the boat that gets you across the ocean.
