Phase One

Phase One
Banderas Bay from Paradise Village

Phase one is complete. That's what I'm calling it—phase one. Shopping for a boat, finding a boat, buying the boat, taking delivery of it, getting oriented, and learning to sail it.

Two months ago, I wasn't sure where all of this was going. But it has worked out well.

The mast is out, and it's starting to get hot and humid. That makes it a good time to head back to California for a few weeks. I'll tend to some client business and let the SeaTek crew attend to our mast and rigging. When they are ready, we'll head back down and put the boat together again. That will be a good time to do the navigation electronics upgrade we've been planning as well.

We're grateful to the previous owners, Angela and Glenn. They took good care of Roam, and she was exactly as they had represented her to us. Overall, this has been a smooth transition.

The biggest challenge for me has been shifting in and out of work mode throughout the day and the week. I'm not complaining. It's pretty amazing I can do this while taking care of clients and earning a living.

A Few Photos:

Lopaka” tied up in La Cruz marina where we first saw her. Love at firstsight.
Whales are everywhere this time of year. We see them every time we go sailing including here in Punta de Mita.
Paradise Village beach. We sat here and made the decision to buy roam, pulled out my phone and wiredthe deposit.
Our long-time sailing friends Mike and Joan keep “Esperanza” here in Banderas Bay. We owned that boat together for over 15 years. Sailing is a small world.
Daniel and Enrique keep an eye on the boat when we aren’t here.
Fajitas at the Vallarta Yacht Club. We can see the boat from the balcony of the Yacht Club. I eat here amost every day.
The view of our slip from the Yacht Club deck.
Testing the new InstaPot in the galley. We think it will get a lot of use once we get going.
Our neighbors. These guys are everywhere around here.
La Cruz Marina from the air. Heading home. It looked very different when we were here in 1996.
