All is well. We are presently tied up in Vuda Marina [VOON-duh], one of two luxury marinas in Fiji. We let the morning rains roll through and then sailed a beam reach along the coral coast in 10-15 knot southerlies with a reefed main and solent and ultimately the code 65.
There was a nasty wind chop with an opposing current. A surprisingly rough day. Daggers at 1/3. We entered the ship channel in the early afternoon and shifted to motor-sailing the rest of the way to make sure we got to the marina before the staff went home. Wedging a big catamaran into a stern-tie benefits from some help. It feels like this has been a long pull since we left the Lau Group and Vulaga.
We went ashore for dinner. After a month in the out islands, it is a culture shock to be around people again. We’ll be here for a few days to catch up on some boat projects while we wait for the kids to arrive. I’m also getting my shoulder imaged. I managed to torque it in the rough conditions we had leaving Savusavu.
