Fiji to New Zealand: Day 5
The routing models are guiding us west to pick up a strong current into New Zealand. Source: PredictWind

All is well. We are presently broad reaching under reefed main and solent in 18 knots and confused 2M seas. We’re moving fast. 9 knots. Daggers at 1/3. We are headed to the barn! Another 200nm day! The third of this trip. Ok, it was actually 199.4nm noon-to-noon but I’m claiming credit anyway.

We’re routing west to 34:30S 174E to pick up better current before turning south to the entrance of the Bay of Islands.

Richard whipped up an epic breakfast in challenging conditions.

The seas are beginning to smooth out. Finally, after 3 days of a real washing machine. Dave and I feel like eating for the first time. Richard has whipped up an amazing breakfast. Imagine cooking while standing on a basketball on tilt-a-whirl. That’s cooking aboard Roam right now.

120 miles to go.

Let’s hope it just keeps smoothing out!

The "Where's Roam?" tracking looks promising! Good luck with Customs!

Congratulations to the Krewe of SV Roam and all the people that help make it happen.

That meal looks amazing, even without the special challenges of cooking under these conditions!

You want Richard on your crew. He is the consummate galley magician (he is classically trained in Cordon Bleu). He also loves doing laundry. We joke that his favorite cologne is bleach.
